OVERVIEW

All cannabis products sold in the state of Pennsylvania, and the raw material used to make them, must be screened for mycotoxins. The presence of any toxin must be shown to be below the allowable limit of 20 micrograms per kilogram of material.

WHY IT MATTERS

Certain organisms that may be present or become present during cultivation or storage of cannabis can release toxins as a reaction to heat or other perceived threats. Screening all cannabis products for these toxins ensures their presence is below a threshold that is safe for consumption.
